About the role
Our head office in Banbury is a busy place. It’s our vibrant national training centre and offices for many of our staff, plus it has lots of our dogs in training visiting the centre every day. The centre welcomes people who we support, volunteers, suppliers, corporate and charity partners and members of the public every day.
In order to give the best possible experience, we are looking for someone to staff our reception area during the week and deal with the varied visitors that arrive every day. As well as staffing reception, you may be willing to help with general administrative tasks when time allows. Whatever time you can give us, we would love to hear from you.
What will I be doing?
- Be the face of the charity on our reception desk welcoming visitors and dealing with queries.
- Booking visitors in and out electronically.
- Helping keep the reception area looking clean and inviting.
- Supporting colleagues on site with general administrative duties and a wide range of projects as and when required.
- Dealing with parcels, post and deliveries that arrive.
What skills or interest might I need for this role?
Along with having great communication and interpersonal skills, we ask that you are:
- Friendly, helpful and have a caring personality.
- Enthusiastic about Dogs for Good and helping us have a fun, inviting head office.
- Willing to work as part of a team, on your own, or alongside our dogs
- Confident with IT and have experience of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel. Some knowledge and experience of working with databases would be useful, however full training will be provided.
- Adaptable and comfortabel with changes to plans and deadlines

Who will I be volunteering with?
You’ll be volunteering on your own although there are always staff around to support you and to connect with.
How much time will I need to give?
Our head office is open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Any regular hours during the week that you can give us would be really appreciated. There is a small team of volunteers covering a regular morning or afternoon shift with a rota in place.
Helpful things to know
We’ll provide essential kit such as a uniform top, plus you will have access to equipment on site to undertake your volunteering with us.
What can I expect from Dogs for Good?
In return for your valuable help, we aim to ensure that volunteering for Dogs for Good is a fulfilling, fun and a worthwhile experience. You’ll have support from staff, with the opportunity to gain and develop skills and meet other volunteers. We’ll reimburse agreed out‐of‐pocket expenses in accordance with our expenses policy.
