At Dogs for Good, our expert guidance has already helped over 2,000 families experience life-changing benefits. Research shows that families who take part in our program feel less parental stress, enjoy more outings together, and see a positive change in their child’s emotional regulation—all thanks to their pet dog.

However, this wouldn’t have been possible without our three-year research project.

The science behind the bond

In collaboration with The National Autistic Society and the University of Lincoln, we conducted a groundbreaking three-year research project on the impact that dogs can have with autistic children and their families. The study, published in 2016, provided
key insights into how pet dogs can offer both emotional and practical support.

Funded by The National Lottery’s Big Lottery Fund, this was the first project of its kind. We are incredibly grateful to the families who took part and made this research possible.

Following the research and the success our workshops have had for autistic children and their dogs, we have also added workshops for both families affected by dementia and those with a physical disability.
