Making our website more accessible

We've worked with Recite Me to implement their assistive toolbar on the Dogs for Good website.

We've added an accessibility toolbar to the Dogs for Good website. The toolbar helps people using our website to adapt it so that they can engage with the content on our site more easily.

There are lots of ways the toolbar lets people customise our website, including:

  • Text to speech – this feature means people can listen to the text on our website being read aloud
  • Changing fonts, colours and spacing to make pages easier to read
  • Gentle background audio that helps people to concentrate and stay engaged while browsing the site
  • Translation into more than 100 different languages

We worked with an accessibility services company called Recite Me to install the toolbar.

Ross Linnett, Recite Me's CEO and Founder, says: "At Dogs for Good, inclusion is at the heart of what they do, and that should extend to every interaction people have with the charity, including online. By offering the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar, Dogs for Good is making it easier for more people to access information and engage with their services in a way that suits their individual needs.

"We're proud to support Dogs for Good in creating a more accessible and inclusive online experience for everyone."

The toolbar will help visitors to our website customise their experience, so they can access our website content in the way that works best for them. At Dogs for Good, we work with people to provide support that is unique to them and tailored to their needs, and so it's great that our website can offer a similar, individualised experience too.

The assistive toolbar will always be visible in a pink button on the right-hand side of your screen, so you can use it whenever you need to.
