Here’s what you can expect to learn in each of our family-focused workshops.

Our series of family-focused workshops are available both in-person and online, so you can benefit from hands-on learning or join from wherever is most convenient to you. 

What you'll learn

Whether you join our workshops online or in-person, you’ll benefit from access to resources on SharePoint, become part of the Family Dog community and receive ongoing support from our expert instructors.  

An optional workshop for people who don't already have a dog, this session will cover:

  • What having a dog involves 

  • Finding and choosing a dog 

  • Understanding different dog types 

  • Choosing a puppy or adult dog

Workshop one is all about creating the right environment for everyone, human and dog, and will cover:

  • Meeting your dog’s needs 

  • Nurturing a safe and secure home 

  • Building a connection with your dog and other family members 

  • Ways you can support the bond with your dog 

Discover how to make the most of dog-human relationship as we cover:

  • Communicating with your dog 

  • Ways they can support you and a family member 

  • How dogs learn and develop 

Our final session will focus on equipping you for a journey of mutual learning, including:

  • How to teach your dog using positive reinforcement methods 

  • Training and learning tools 

  • Advanced training and skills
