Once our dogs have spent a few weeks in their new role, we take a look at how they're settling in and whether they are ready to become a working dog.

Once our dogs have spent a few weeks in their new role after training, a member of our team carries out a qualification visit to see if they’re ready to become a working dog. 

They look at how they’re settling into their new home, the skills they’re using and visit a variety of public places to assess their behaviour. If everything is going well, our dog qualifies and they can proudly wear their new green jacket to show they’re a working dog! 

The extraordinary things our dogs can go on to do

The help our dogs provide is all about enabling people to better access the world around them. Whatever role our dogs go on to play, they help life to feel happier, brighter and more connected for the person, family or group they support.

Assistance dog partnerships

Our dogs may go on to be an assistance dog, where they support adults and children with a range of disabilities, or autistic children and their families.

Working in the community

Our dogs can go on to provide community-based support for groups of people, including autistic adults, disabled people, those living with dementia or mental health needs.

Joining our breeding programme

Some of our dogs become part of our breeding programme and have the vital job of bringing the next generation of life-changing dogs into the world.
