Our research shows that on average, for every person your donation directly supports, five more people also feel the benefits – family members, carers, friends, and even supporting professionals.

But for every person we reach, there are many more waiting. Together, we can enable more people to feel the benefit of a life-changing connection with a dog in 2026.

Last year, support for our Winter Appeal enabled wonderful Walt, and his handler Sarah,
to continue making a vital difference to young people in a specialist mental health unit. Thanks to everyone’s support, we’ve been able to extend this work to another ward
supporting clinically vulnerable young people.

For families like Emma and Albie, autism assistance dog Dougie breaks down the barriers that make accessing life difficult for an autistic child. Visits from our volunteer Elle and her pet dog Roxy are helping young people at a school in Bracknell improve their confidence and reduce anxiety. And for Katy, assistance dog Sterling enables her to unlock her independence and be seen as the woman with the dog – rather than the wheelchair user.
