We’ve got some exciting news – meet Siren, our newest member of the Family Dog team!

Siren is a two year old black Labrador. She came to us as an eight week old puppy. Siren completed her year of socialising, and came back to us to begin her formal training at around 14 months old. However, it soon became apparent that she has a very strong interest in birds and squirrels! Unfortunately, this would have made it difficult for her to go out with a client, who could possibly have limited mobility, so the decision was taken to withdrawn Siren from our assistance dog scheme.

However, we’re thrilled to announce that Siren has taken a sideways step in her career and switched services to become a Family Dog demo dog instead! Our Family Dog service has been running since 2010 and recognises the positive effect a pet dog can have on autistic children, through a series of three one-day workshops and accompanying support.

Siren has a lovely personality and excellent task work skills, which makes her a perfect fit to join the Family Dog team, working with Instructor, Amy.

Hannah, another of our Family Dog Instructors, says, “Siren has already been to a few workshops with us and has settled in very well to the team. She is taking everything in her stride and has enjoyed meeting lots of new parents and our other dogs in the team. She also loves jumping in puddles, as many of our family dogs do! We’re absolutely delighted to be working with Siren, and can’t wait to see how she gets on.”
